About
About Hawkeye
An evolving personal research project by Manoj Sahukar, started in 2019, with one aim: try and summarize the world.
What is SWOT?
SWOT analysis is a planning framework that looks at a subject through four lenses. Two describe the subject itself and two describe its surroundings:
Strengths
Internal qualities that help.
Weaknesses
Internal qualities that hold back.
Opportunities
External conditions that could help.
Threats
External conditions that could cause harm.
On this site the quadrants are presented in the order the research began: Threats, Opportunities, Weaknesses, Strengths.
The top-down method
Hawkeye applies SWOT at every level, starting from the widest view and zooming in: first the whole Earth — its natural systems as well as its people — then each of the seven continents, then the countries within them, beginning with Asia and India. Each level gives context for the one below it.
Work in progress
This is a living project. Sections marked Analysis in progress haven’t been written yet and will be filled in from the linked source playlists and further research. Nothing in those sections is guessed or filled in for the sake of looking complete.
Sources and licence
Content is factual and editorial. Every figure links to its source and states the year it refers to, and quotes are given word for word from the source they link to. The site’s text is licensed under CC BY 4.0 (opens in a new tab); quotes, linked videos and third-party data remain with their authors and sources.
The project began as a GitLab repository (opens in a new tab) and wiki in 2019.
